Can they legally evict me? Could I claim squatters rights?

Due to various issues with a property I have been renting I stopped paying rent. I have since arranged payment to pay the remainder of the arrears however I would like to know if they can legally evict me or other to get me out of the premises. Is that fact that the property is occupied by myself mean that I cannot claim squatters rights?
